I wonder your view of the broken beat scene. Do you think much has changed since you first landed in London?
relative to when i got to london in 1998, right now that scene doesn't exist. the half a dozen or so people who were instrumental in creating the music and spear-heading the community don't have a cohesion together any more and are either doing their own things now or doing something different. it was a time and place that will always be so special in my memory and experiences but, like anything, things change. things move on. people change. times change. the fundamental of that scene was an ethos when it came to making music - not too dissimilar to the Bruce Lee ethos of 'the style of no style'. that's a mentality that for me, stays intact and remains at the heart of what i do. i love seeing people maintain parties and scenes where they push the envelope and challenge the status quo. that's whatsup!
