Mark, followed your advice and got Logic 9 & Waves bundle. Trying to transition from Ableton, but I not a mastering engineer, What do you do to get such a good sound? as far as compression EQing goes

you gotta try different things and just see what sounds good to your ear. fundamentally, make sure that every sound has its own space in the sonic spectrum - if there's a whole lot of bottom end on a more mid or high-range instrument (eg guitar or rhodes) then that's going to eat up some of the space that the bass and kick should be sitting in. it's like tetris... with sounds ;) experiment and have fun with it. and make sure your room sounds good - flat sounding, dry with no weird reverb, know where the sweet spot is to listen back from too
