How many years did you take to master the piano? And who would you say inspires you?
And what do you think about South african house music?
it's going to take me a lifetime to even attempt to master the piano - it's always a work in progress. i've been playing almost all my life, but that's not even really the important factor. i hear people who have played for a much shorter time than me and they're truly amazing.
inspiration comes from so many people, places, moments and experiences. as my brother would say, "i am the sum total of my experiences". musically a lot of my inspiration comes from great artists like miles davis, john coltrane, herbie hancock, j dilla, ahmad jamal, ornette coleman and countless more.
south african house music is so unique - i love the flavor and the chilled and relaxed groove of it. hope to get back to SA again soon!
Love your work, love your live shows. My question is; Is it feasible to make it as a strictly recording artist and NOT a performing artist given the current state of the industry? By "make it" I mean move enough units to get minor label backing.Mark de Clive-Lowe responded on 07/25/2013 Next question
